Medieval Cairo Walking Tour | Bazaars of Egypt | 4K Walks Today our walk begins on a side street around the famous al- Muizz street, before heading into the Khan el-Khalili street market. After exploring the market shops, our Cairo Egypt Walk continues up Muizz street and passed several famous Islamic landmarks. Al Muizz Street in Cairo Egypt is the largest open-air museum for Islamic monuments in the world, and a unique heritage site that was added to The UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. The street has borne many names over the centuries, and came to be known as al-Mu’izz only in 1937. Running the length of Islamic Cairo’s central core, from Bab Al-Futuh in the north to Bab Zuweila in the south, it is one of the most important places in Egypt’s Islamic history.
